FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. CAN I MODEL PARTS THAT ARE COMPATIBLE WITH THE CADPARTS INSERTION PROGRAM?
Yes. In order to use the newly created parts in the CadParts Insertion program the following rules must be followed:
The mating surface must be the side plane
The part of the device that is to be inside the mating part, must be on the right hand side (positive X) of the side plane
The origin of the part must be coincident with the temporary axis of the mating hole
2. CAN I USE LIBRARY PARTS TO CREATE NEW LIBRARY PARTS?
Yes. Just open a part from the library and save it as another part. After the part is saved, then modify it as desired. Be sure to go into the file properties and change its' description or it will have the same description as the original part. Caution: make sure that an assembly document is not open with the part that you are going to change. This can screw up the part and the assembly. Close the assembly prior to saving the part as another part.
3. IS THE LIBRARY COMPATIBLE WITH ALL VERSIONS OF SOLIDWORKS?
The library was created using SolidWorks 98 Plus. All later versions of SolidWorks will be able to read and use the files.
4. WHEN I TRY AND RUN THE INSERTION PROGRAM, I CANNOT FIND THE "APPLY" BUTTON ON THE INSERTION WINDOW. WHAT DO I DO?
You are running your computer using the "large font". Our original program was written for "small font" only. We have since corrected the problem. Please write to Sales@cadparts.com and we will send you the fix so that you can continue to run with "large font"
5. WHEN I TRY TO INSTALL THE INSERTION PROGRAM INTO SOLIDWORKS 2003, I CANNOT FIND THE MACRO. WHAT DO I DO?
The 2003 version of SolidWorks had a major rewrite in the macro section. The result was that the naming convention and extension of macros changed. If you are running 2003, please notify us at Sales@cadparts.com and we will send you a new macro for you to put in the macro folder. You will then be able to install the Insertion Program.
