CadParts 2005 Fastener Library and Insertion Program is Fully Compatible with SolidWorks 2005 Software

Integrated software allows users to easily insert and mate fasteners into SolidWorks assemblies verifying form, fit, and function.

American Fork, Utah, August 31, 2004 — CadParts, Inc. today announced that its Fastener Library and Insertion Program supports SolidWorks® 2005 3D mechanical design software. Engineers and designers use CadParts 2005 and SolidWorks to effortlessly display and specify fasteners inside a 3 D assembly so they can design better products faster and more accurately, speeding time to market.

A SolidWorks Solution Partner Product, the CadParts 2005 Fastener Library and Insertion Program allows users to avoid the time required to obtain dimensional data, model, insert, and position fasteners inside assemblies. SolidWorks 2005 expands on the software’s legacy of ease of use, design power, and affordability by also providing users with comprehensive tools and new productivity features that will speed the adoption of 3D design around the world.

The CadParts library contains sufficient engineering information to allow the engineer to specify the correct size and material to insure that the product design will meet the required specification. Each part file contains important information such as recommended torque, clamp load, cross sectional area, and material properties such as tensile strength and yield strength. During the installation of CadParts 2005, the CadParts Insertion Program is automatically placed inside SolidWorks 2005 providing a seamless interface. Clicking on the CadParts icon accesses the insertion program. A Property Manager window appears allowing the user to select the fastener and multiple locations for the fastener. Selecting the OK icon inserts and mates the fastener into the assembly.

“Engineers shouldn’t have to hop between several different applications to finish a product design,” said Brian Houle, Partner Program manager for SolidWorks. “Integrating the CadParts 2005 Library and Insertion Program with SolidWorks means engineers can begin specifying and inserting fasteners directly within the SolidWorks environment. That saves time and helps manufacturers meet tight production deadlines. Giving engineers the tools they need to work more efficiently is why SolidWorks leads the market for mainstream 3D mechanical design software.”

The SolidWorks Partner Program features products and services that complement SolidWorks products. Certified Gold Products are fully integrated with SolidWorks and provide users with instant access to the partner application within the SolidWorks window. Solution Partner products offer a variety of integration methods with SolidWorks software, including the SolidWorks application programming interface (API) and established industry standard file formats. SolidWorks has more partners in the mid-range CAD market than any competing technologies, with more than 600 companies worldwide participating in the SolidWorks Partner Program.

“CadParts is very honored to be a Solution Partner with SolidWorks. We regard SolidWorks as the world leader in 3 D design” said David Richins founder of CadParts. “We look forward to becoming a Gold Partner and providing many different libraries in the future.”
